SkyTel Online Privacy Policy

SkyTel takes your concerns regarding privacy very seriously.  The personally identifiable information[1] we obtain online is only used for business purposes- to provide our customers with SkyTel services, to protect customers against fraud, theft or abuse, to conduct industry or consumer surveys or to maintain good customer relations.  Access to databases containing customer information is limited to employees who need it to perform their jobs -- and they follow strict rules when handling that information.

What information is collected:  SkyTel collects both personal and non-personal information from users of the SkyTel website.  This information may consist of one or more of the following: Full name, mailing and or physical address, email address, home and/or cell phone numbers and credit card information.  We may also request information about your work and/or the products you are interested in to better serve you.

How information is stored and protected:   All SkyTel customers’ personal data is stored in a database which is protected by firewall and other security measures conforming to industry standards.  The database is not accessible from the Internet, only from our internal secure network.  The web servers themselves do not store any personal information. Additionally,  for sensitive information like credit card information  data is encrypted while in transit using Secure Socket Layer (SSL).

How information is used:  The information collected by SkyTel is used solely for business purposes- to facilitate communication with our customers and to protect them against fraud, theft and abuse.  SkyTel may also use non-personally identifiable information (such as products sold, products disconnected and geographical location) to assist in identifying and tracking sales and web traffic trends.

How information is shared:   We do not sell or disclose individually identifiable information obtained online to anyone outside of SkyTel.

Using Cookies:  www.skytel.com uses cookies to collect data from you as you move through the site.  The data is used to enhance the user’s experience.  If you wish, you may disable cookies in your browser, however online applications- such as buying online and accessing your pager services- will not work properly.

Linking to other sites from SkyTel.com:  Due to partnerships and agreements with other companies, visitors to www.skytel.com may have the opportunity to link to another company’s website.  Because these companies are not owned by SkyTel, they will have their own privacy policy.  Customers of SkyTel may want to familiarize themselves with these other privacy policies before doing business with these companies.

Protecting children online:  SkyTel does not offer any products or services that specifically target children. SkyTel requires that Customer Agreements be signed by persons at least 18 years of age. Additionally, we do not solicit or intentionally collect information from children under the age of 13.

 

 

                              


 

[1] Information that does not reveal a customer’s identity is not personally identifiable information. For example, "aggregated information," such as the number of customers who have purchased 2Way Service in a particular state, or the number of users to access a Web site in a particular day,  are not considered personally identifiable information.
